Kristen Tarr
Valedictorian
Kristen Carol Tarr, valedictorian, is the daughter of Suzette Tarr and Christopher Tarr. Kristen’s activities throughout high school have included varsity soccer (captain), softball and basketball. She has served on the yearbook committee as sports editor, the Civil Rights Team, Student Council, holding office of vice president and president, and been a member of Dollars for Scholars.
Kristen has been chosen by staff/students to receive Student of the Quarter throughout high school. She has been in drama productions all four years and has held office of vice president for her class. Kristen’s community service includes volunteering at Vacation Bible School at the Oakfield Baptist Church, SACS Hoop and soccer camps, SACS Annual Share the Warmth clothing drive, American Red Cross Blood Drive and SACS Elementary Spring Fling. She was a participant in the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and volunteered her time to the Brave Hearts Haunted House.
Kristen’s honors/awards include Maine Principals’ Award, All-Aroostook scholar athlete, All-Aroostook soccer, National Honor Society member, Phi Beta Kappa award, and she attended Dirigo Girls State. She has also received many individual achievement awards in her classes.
Kristen has always been passionate about education. She will be attending University of Maine at Farmington in the Honors Program majoring in elementary education.
Desirae DuBois
Salutatorian
Desirae L. DuBois, salutatorian, is the daughter of Brent DuBois and Jennifer DuBois. Desirae has been active in varsity soccer, basketball and softball throughout high school. She was chosen to participate in the Senior All-Star game.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, Drama Club, Student Council, Dollars for Scholars, Varsity Club, Yearbook and Prom Committee.
Desirae’s community service includes assisting with AYBL in Dyer Brook, Trick or Treating for charity and she volunteered for the Share the Warmth clothing drive.
She has been chosen to attend the Rotary Luncheon for her many academic achievements in her classes. Desirae is employed at Birch Point Campground during the summer months. She plans to attend UNE in the fall for pre-physical therapy for four years.
Jenica Frazier
First-honor essayist
Jenica Elsie Ellen Frazier, first honor essayist, is the daughter of David and Ruth Frazier. Jenica is a member of the National Honor Society, Drama Club, and Dollars for Scholars. She has participated in softball, basketball and was manager of girl’s soccer team. She has served as class president. Jenica also achieved high honors. She has been very active in volunteering her time with the American Red Cross Blood Drive, Island Falls Recreation Committee, SACS Clothing Drive, Breast Cancer Walk participant, Brave Hearts events, Island Falls Baptist Church events, Island Falls Christmas Gift Fun & Love, various food drives and Celebration of Life Bob Dyer Walk.
Jenica was a staff member at Baptist Park, and attended Next Step Missions Trip. She received the Girl Scout Bronze Award for fulfilling all requirements making tie blankets and donating them to children on the EMMC cancer floor.
Jenica has been accepted at Gordon College in Massachusetts where she will study psychology and social work.
Zachary Hartin-Brown
Second-honor essayist
Zachary Hartin-Brown, second honor essayist, is the son of Kerry and Rebecca Hartin-Brown. Zachary is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Council and has participated in drama productions. He has received many academic awards.
He placed third in the science fair, has been chosen by staff and students for Student of the Quarter and was most recently selected Region II CTE Student of the Year in the welding program and will attend a celebration in Lewiston with the opportunity to win a scholarship.
Zachary’s community service includes his participation in the Share the Warmth Clothing Drive, volunteering at the Haunted House put on by Brave Hearts, volunteer junior firefighter for the town of Island Falls, Houlton Humane Society, assisted with the Red Cross Blood Drive and participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.
Zachary plans to attend NMCC in the fall studying diesel hydraulics technology.
