Union 122 schools started a third- and fourth-grade wrestling team this winter. The program ran for one month, with practices held three times a week. The season culminated at a tournament which took place at Penobscot Valley High School March 23.
The Union 122 team placed sixth out of 11 teams. Other schools competing were Hermon, Calvary Chapel, Foxcroft, Dexter, Calais, Bucksport, Maranacook, Lincoln, Downeast Coastal and Howland.
Oliver Peterson placed first in his weight division.
Second-place wrestlers from Union 122 included Ethan Edgecomb, Aiden Brown and Jacob Smart.
Coming in third were Angela Butterfield and George Ferland, while placing fourth were Mikayla Spooner, Wyatt Grant, Elliott Brown and Nicholas Margeson.
