Terry Allyn McCluskey, 67, died unexpectedly but peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 30, at home in Wasilla, Alaska. At the time of his death, he was employed by Klondike Concrete as a mixer truck driver, a profession he held for the past 20 years.
Terry was the fourth child of Harold and Dorothy (McMakin) McCluskey in Houlton, Maine, on February 20, 1946.
He is survived by his wife Gale; two sisters, Linda (Leroy) Icenhour of Chase City, Virginia and Sally (Nick) Gravelle of Lexington Park, Maryland. He leaves one half-brother, Bill of Joliet, Montana. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James (Jimmy) of Conroe, Texas and Gerald (Jud) McCluskey of West Haven, Connecticut and by one half-sister, Noreen of San Diego, California. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy of 32 years, Also preceded in death by a beloved step-grand-daughter, Brianna Gregory.
Terry also served with the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam conflict.
By all those who knew Terry, he was honest and hardworking – a Christian man with a heart of gold. He loved working with his hands and could fix anything. He was kind to everyone he met.
Terry will surely be missed by all who love him and earth has lost a good soul and heaven is the better for it.
Services were held at Kehl’s Funeral Home in Palmer, Alaska at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Contributions in his name can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, Maryland, 20814 in honor of Brianna.
