CARIBOU, Maine — The sixth-grade teachers, Mr. Pelletier, Mrs. Bouchard, Ms. Lajoie and Mrs. Donovan, have chosen Willow Whitten and Jacob Soucy as April Students of the Month.

Whitten played on the CMS soccer team last fall and is also participating on the track team this spring. She is an honor roll student. Whitten’s teachers say she is a great friend to her peers as well as a terrific student to have in class.

Soucy loves baseball, plays Little League and follows the Red Sox. His teachers say he is a student that is counted on in class and is an outstanding example of a CMS citizen.

Soucy wrestled on the CMS wrestling team and was very successful in his weight category. Soucy is also an honor roll student.

The grade-seven teachers have chosen Brooke DeMerchant and Hallie Caron as April’s Students of the Month.

DeMerchant is an active student at CMS, participating in extracurricular activities. She was a manager of the CMS wrestling team this year as well as contributed to the yearbook. According to her teachers, she was an invaluable member of both organizations and is a pleasure to have in the classroom.

A conscientious student who enjoys being at school, DeMerchant is always willing to help and to offer kind words to her fellow classmates. Her teachers believe her kindness for others and eagerness to learn will help her be even more successful in the future.

Caron is one of the hardest working and determined students in seventh grade who tries very hard to create great work all the time, according to her teachers. They praise Caron as a tremendously kind and patient student who treats others extremely well and is accepting and helpful to everyone she comes in contact with throughout the day.

Caron’s teachers greatly enjoy having her in their class and say she is a fantastic school citizen.

The eighth-grade staff has selected Austin Brown and Conner Spencer as April’s Students of the Month.

Brown quietly goes about his business every day and leads through his actions, according to his teachers. He takes his education seriously and strives to reach his personal goals.

His teachers say Brown is a diligent worker who regularly participates in class and consistently completes his assignments. They believe Brown’s peers would also say that he’s not just a good student, but he is a good friend and role model as well. Brown’s hard work and dedication to his education is evident by his honor roll status throughout the school year.

Spencer’s teachers chose her as Student of the Month because of her positive attitude toward schoolwork, classes, teachers and classmates. A very active student at CMS, Spencer is currently a member of the school’s tennis team and was on the eighth-grade basketball team this past winter. Spencer is also involved in the Gifted and Talented and Strings program at CMS.

Spencer is a member of the local Girl Scouts troop and also participates in many other community service projects and organizations outside of the school setting. Spencer’s teachers say she is a great example for all at CMS with her fabulous work ethic and treatment of others and is a true role model.
