MATTAWAMKEAG AND OAKFIELD – Christie N. Sanders, 61, died Aug. 1, 2013, in Mattawamkeag. He was born Aug. 18, 1951, in Island Falls, son of Donald and Ellen (Barrows) Sanders.
He is survived by his daughter, Krissie Rubino and her husband, Gabe, of Standish; two sons, Peter Russell of Augusta, Patrick Russell and his wife, Blanche, of Dyer Brook; seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Kayli, Courtney, Megan, Mya, Ledger and Mason; a great-granddaughter, Andrea; a brother, Alton and Cyndi Sanders of Middleton, Conn.; two sisters, Tootie Britton and her husband, Mark, of Houlton, Shelli Sanders and Kurt Bauersfeld of Oakfield; a friend, Dolly Richards of Mattawamkeag; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A procession was held from the Oakfield Fire Department to Oakfield Cemetery on Tuesday, where a graveside service was held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence and Rick Libby officiating.
