The fall soccer season is under way, with teams starting their seasons.
The Houlton varsity boys and girls will open their schedule at Madawaska on Tuesday, Aug. 27 with the girls playing at 5 p.m., followed by the boys at 7 p.m. The Shiretowners next game will be home on Saturday, Sept. 7 to Calais with the girls game at noon, followed by the boys contest at 2 p.m.
The Hodgdon/GHCA varsity girls and boys will host Washburn at 4 p.m. on Friday, with Easton coming to Hodgdon on Friday, Aug. 30 for a rematch at 3:30 p.m.
The Katahdin Cougar girls and boys varsity squads open their seasons at home Friday against Central Aroostook at 3:30 p.m., while the Southern Aroostook varsity teams will kick off their seasons on Thursday, Aug. 29, as SACS travels to Stacyville for 3:30 p.m. contests.
The Southern Aroostook varsity boys and girls will meet Madawaska in Dyer Brook on Wednesday, Sept. 4 for their second game at 4 p.m.
Cross-country
The Greater Houlton Christian Academy cross-country teams have been working out for the last two weeks in preparation for their opening meets.
The varsity team will host their first meet on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. at Houlton Community Park against Central Aroostook, Fort Kent, Limestone/MSSM and Washburn.
Their next meet will be Wednesday, Aug. 28 in Fort Kent with Central Aroostook, Limestone/MSSM, Washburn and Fort Kent.
The GHCA middle school team begins Wednesday, Aug. 28. The site is to be announced. Their next meet is Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the University of Maine Presque Isle against Fort Kent, Caribou and Union 122.
