MAPLETON – Philip White, 75, passed away into eternal rest on September 3, 2013, at a Presque Isle Healthcare Facility. Phil was born in Fort Fairfield on July 31, 1938, the son of the late Evans and Myra (Devoe) White.
He attended Fort Fairfield schools and became a long-haul truck driver until 1975 when he began working at MPG Truck & Tractor as a mechanic. Phil later became the service manager at Truck and Tractor until his retirement in 2000. His loves in life were his family, especially his only grandchild, Jenna, his tractors, his guitar and all animals. His passing will leave a huge void in our lives.
Phil is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois (Johnston) White of Mapleton; daughter, Lynn White of Cumberland; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Joe Rice and granddaughter, Jenna Rice of North Yarmouth. He is also survived by one brother, Joe White and Betty Chapman of Ashland; three sisters, Erma and Leon Griffeth of Chicopee, MA, Shirley and Paul L’Homme of Casselberry, FL, and Alice and Don Hiles of Huntington, WV; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Emery Rooks of Martin, TN, Vera and Don Scott of Houlton, Bonnie Guerrette of Hollis, Debbie and Paul Fusco of Oxford, CT; brothers-in-law, Philip and Betty Johnston of West Yarmouth, MA, and Lynny and Sonya Johnston of Colorado Springs, CO; and also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Donnie in 1978; two sisters, Donna Kenney and Faye Clark; and a brother, Richard White.
Friends called 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where funeral services followed at Noon with the Rev. Gary Johnston officiating. Interment followed funeral services at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. There was a reception following interment at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
