CARIBOU — A group well-known for their volunteerism and community support is currently asking for the community’s help to reunite a local man with a cherished piece of property.
While busy implementing another tremendously successful Coats for Kids and Families project, members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Henry B. Pratt Jr. Unit 15 of Caribou accidentally gave away one coat too many.

The treasured coat of a Legionnaire, who was at the facility to play some cribbage, was accidentally one of 800 distributed during the event; it was given to a family looking to pick up a coat for their son.
Understandably, the coat’s rightful owner would very much like it returned.
“The coat was an Army Extreme Weather Camouflage jacket, and there was a set of keys in the pocket,” said Coats for Kids and Families Chair Jessica Feeley.
Feeley expressed the need for community’s support helping return the jacket to its rightful owner.
“This coat cannot be purchased; it was earned as part of the owner’s service to our country,” she said.
One of the aspects of the Coats for Kids and Families project that has allowed its success is the ability for participants to remain anonymous — to get a new winter coat, all folks have to do is show up.
This means there is no way of knowing who was accidentally given the Legionnaire’s coat, other than spreading the word of the mistakenly distributed jacket.
Whoever has the coat is asked to return it to the Legion Hall on Sweden Street between 7-8:30 a.m. or during any of the hall’s Bingo Nights. Should the coat be returned during Bingo Night, the individual is asked to notify the caller of the return to help the coat find its way back onto the arms of its owner.
“Thank you for your anticipated cooperation of this matter,” Feeley said.
