The Ghost of Paul Revere rides to Caribou

Portland-based band The Ghost of Paul Revere is one of Maine’s favorite acoustic folk bands. The band was recently named a finalist for Maine Band of the Year in the upcoming New England Music Awards.

Having just released their first full-length album “Believe” the band is making a trip up to Aroostook County, as part of their CD release tour. They look to introduce their new album to their northern Maine fan base. The show will be on Saturday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Arts Center (CPAC).
The Ghost of Paul Revere is a holler folk band centered around Griffin Sherry (guitar, mandolin and vocals), Max Davis (banjo), Sean McCarthy (bass) and Matt Young (harmonica). Their songs feature soaring vocal harmonies, modern interpretations on traditional instrumentation, and passion. They are a band dedicated to writing powerful, stripped down music that is meant to be experienced live and intimately.
Their debut EP “North,” released in the summer of 2012, became the 15th best selling local album in Maine and New Hampshire for 2012 in just five months. In August 2013, the group went into the studio to record their first featured full-length album. “Believe” was recorded live at the Halo by Jonathon Wyman and mastered by Adam Ayan at Gateway Mastering Studios.
“We have played the area several times, and have quite a few loyal fans in The County,” said band member Sherry. “We are excited to include CPAC on our release tour, and hope to see many friends and fans at this great venue.”
The Ghost of Paul Revere is comprised of four members, and features guitar, banjo, bass, and mandolin, with a liberal dose of harmonica. The band builds their songs around powerful three-part harmonies, energetic performances, and a non-traditional way of interpreting traditional American music. Their songs are written with both melody and energy in mind, designed to be performed with passion. From soft folk to foot-stomping bluegrass the songs have unique identities, while still remaining undeniably the Ghost of Paul Revere.
Opening the show will Caribou’s own Travis Cyr. With his own unique blend of modern folk and percussive acoustic guitar, Cyr’s songs deliver a freight train of emotion. As the founder of the Arootsakoostic Music Festival, and having played in every corner of The County and most of Maine, Cyr is also looking forward to his debut on the CPAC stage.
