Fire leaves family of five homeless

The Bridgewater Fire Department, assisted by the Monticello Fire Department, responded to a fire Sunday night at the home of Richard and April Michaud at 160 Snow Road.
Thirty firefighters from the two volunteer departments spent two hours on the scene. The structure was saved, but high heat and a heavy smoke load may leave the building uninhabitable, said Matthew Powers, training officer with the Bridgewater Fire Department.
The Michauds and their three young children are staying with relatives. They are need of girl’s clothing sizes 6-7 and boy’s sizes 7-8.
A neighbor reported the blaze at 8:41 p.m. No one was home at the time the fire started. The couple’s home was insured. The fire marshal has determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
The Bridgewater Fire Department contacted the Red Cross, who worked with the displaced residents on Monday to help meet their immediate needs.
