CARIBOU – Richard J. Michaud, 87, died August 23, 2014, at his Caribou residence. He was born in Caribou on May 30, 1927, the son of the late Vital and Phillince (Castonguay) Michaud.
Mr. Michaud proudly served with the U.S. Army during WW II and was a member of the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion. He married Joyce Parker on December 24, 1947. Mr. Michaud was employed in the maintenance department of the Caribou School Department for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and many will remember him as the “tomato man”. Richard made many friends, who came back year after year to buy his tomatoes that he grew in his garden.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 66 years, Joyce, of Caribou, are his sister, Bet Castonguay of Caribou; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew, David Parker and his wife, Cindy. Mr. Michaud was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
Private family services will be held at a later date at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
