CARIBOU — It took 16 Caribou firefighters nearly an hour to extinguish a trailer fire in the Delwood Mobile Home Park at 590 Access Highway, and Caribou Fire Chief Scott Susi believes the trailer will be a total loss.
The fire started around 5 p.m. on Aug. 29 in a bedroom at the end of the trailer, owned by Jim and Lori Cavagnaro. Susi said that the fire was a quick knock down and firefighters were on the scene for about two hours total.
No one was injured in the blaze and the Cavagnaros did have insurance, but the tenants occupying the trailer did not have renters insurance.
Officials with the Caribou Fire Department are still looking into the incident.
Assisting at the scene was Doug Bell of the Caribou Police Department and mutual aid was provided by the Presque Isle Fire Department via firehouse coverage.
