Shire golfers finish regular season with 12-2 record

It was a 10-stroke difference between second-place Houlton and Mattanawcook Academy in Monday’s match at JaTo in Lincoln.
Houlton scored a 170 to Mattanawcook’s 160 and Searsport’s 236.

Low medalist was Elliott Sibley of Mattanawcook Academy with a 37.
Houlton was led by Ryan Dee with a 40; Cameron Clark shot a 42; Parker Brewer and Drew Marino each tallied a 44.
For Mattanawcook Academy, Sibley, 37; Logan Thompson, 39; Jeff Garfield and Connor McLaughlin each with 42s.
Rica Warren was the lowest scoring player for Searsport with a 50, followed by Alex Woodward, 53; Makenna Woodward, 65 and Tyler Kendall, 69.
The Shiretowners finish the regular season at 12-2 and will play their regionals at JaTo in Lincoln on Thursday.
Last Saturday, the Houlton golfers won the Caribou Invitational with a score of 336, with Caribou finishing second with a 350. Other teams participating were Hodgdon ad Presque Isle.
Caribou’s Dayne Savage was the low medalist with a 79 after a three-way tie with brother Donovan and Hodgdon’s Ben Tuttle. Savage won on the first hole in sudden death.
Last Tuesday in Presque Isle, the Shiretowners won 173-214.
Clark of Houlton was the low medalist shooting a 37. According to his coach David Grant, “Cameron played a great round in tough weather.” The day proved to have a little bit of everything from sun to rain and wind. Dee carded a 44; Brewer, 45; and Marino, 47.
For Presque Isle, Jenna Hallett finished with a 47; Hunter Flynn, 49; John Saucier, 58 and Gannon Therrien, 60.
