Serving those in need in the greater Houlton area will be featured at the Ecumenical Community Thanksgiving Service planned by the Southern Aroostook Ministerial Association (SAMA) for Tuesday, Nov. 25, 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Special music will be provided by Border Harmony.
Canned goods brought for local food pantries will be placed in baskets inside the door. The offering will go to the Salvation Army Fuel Fund and the SAMA Emergency Fund. Food and fellowship will follow the service, to which all are invited.
The Southern Aroostook Ministerial Association is now a 501(c)(3) organization. Tax-deductible donations may be made payable to SAMA (with “Emergency Fund” on the memo line) and sent to Rev. David Hutchinson, treasurer, SAMA, 61 Military St., Houlton, ME 04730. Poverty is increasing in Aroostook County, not decreasing as in southern Maine.
