Hodgdon announces honor parts

    Hodgdon High School Principal Mary Harbison has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2015. Rachel Harmon has been named valedictorian, while Hannah Sherman is salutatorian; and Jessi Tracy is first honor essayist.
Rachel Claire Harmon is the daughter of Dennis and Jennifer Harmon of Hodgdon. She has participated in varsity soccer, hockey and softball for all four years. She was captain of both her soccer and softball teams, as well as her school’s club volleyball team.

Valedictorian

    Harmon was named an All-Aroostook player in soccer, and was named to the Class “B” East All-Academic Team in hockey. She has been named Student of the Month at Hodgdon many times and has received the Golden Rule Award.
In addition to her regular high school classes, Harmon has earned 37 college credits, through a combination of AP and early college courses. She was a Rotary International Youth Exchange Student, and spent the summer between her sophomore and junior year hosting an exchange student, and living in Italy.
Harmon is president of the Hodgdon chapter of National Honor Society, a member of her school’s Peer/Wellness Team, co-chair of the Civil Rights Team, a past member of the Envirothon Team, a three-time actress in the Senior Play, and a past class officer and Student Council member.
Harmon is involved in her church and youth group, and has volunteered throughout high school. She is employed at Tim Hortons. In the future, she will be attending the University of Maine at Orono, majoring in pre-medical biology before moving on to medical school and becoming a doctor.

Hannah Sherman
Salutatorian

    Hannah Sherman is the daughter of Greg and Angela Sherman of Hodgdon. She is involved in her church’s youth group, her school’s chapter of National Honor Society, Dollars for Scholars, Peer Team, Civil Rights Team and band.
Sherman is also an active member of the soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball programs. She has received Student of the Month and Golden Rule Awards throughout her high school career. She has been named to the High Honor Roll every quarter.
During her time at Hodgdon High School, Sherman has earned 25 college credits, and has volunteered in many community activities. She will be attending the University of Maine at Orono in the fall to major in communication sciences and disorders.

Jessi Tracy
First Honor Essayist

    Jessi Nicole Tracy is the granddaughter of Gail Duff of Hodgdon. During her high school career, Tracy has been actively involved in her school, as well as the community. She participates in varsity soccer, softball, hockey and Hodgdon’s club volleyball team. Tracy was captain of her soccer and softball teams her junior year, and despite an ACL injury in her senior year has remained involved in soccer and softball and has held leadership positions in both.
Tracy has been a class officer for all four years of high school, a student government member for three years, is vice president of Hodgdon’s National Honor Society. She has also been involved in many other school clubs such as Envirothon and the Civil Rights Team.
Tracy has consistently been an honors student and in addition to the courses Hodgdon has to offer, she completed many honors, AP, and early college classes. For her sophomore, junior and senior years, she has balanced not only her academic activities, but also employment at Houlton Big Stop where she has worked as a busser, cashier and waitress.
Tracy is a member of the Houlton Wesleyan Church where she participated in Sunday school, the church choir and youth group. She also attends youth group at the Hodgdon Baptist Church. She will be heading to St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. this fall with a goal of obtaining her juris doctorate and using those skills in litigation and international relations.
