Spring Day of Service first of many

CARIBOU, Maine — Members of Catholic Charities Maine Children Services held their first annual Day of Service throughout the state on June 5, 2015.

“We broke our program up into groups with projects in Caribou, Bangor, Belfast, Fairfield and Portland,” Children’s Services Assistant Director Belinda Hallett said.
Staff from the Caribou office volunteered to put together raised beds, weeded and mowed outside of the Caribou Wellness Center, Teague Park and the Bread of Life Soup Kitchen.
“Over the last year our members mentioned it would be nice to do something as a group,” Hallett said. “Service in general is part of the Catholic Charities mission. It’s ingrained in all of us in the work we do.”
Hallett said the feedback her group received from the community “was amazing with a lot of laughter and a lot of fun. It was a good day’s work.”
