The Easton PTO will sponsor a harvest party at the elementary school Oct. 31 from 10 a.m.-noon. There will be games, a cake walk and more! Admission to the event will be an item for the Easton Food Pantry. More information will be out soon.
The PTO will hold a Scholastic Book Fair in November and it will also be open during the craft fair Dec. 5.
Ink cartridges are still being collected for recycling. They are able to turn used ink and toner cartridges into money to purchase school supplies.
BoxTops for Education are found on many General Mills products. A full listing can be found at www.btfe.com. You can sign up for e-mails to receive coupons, bonus Boxtops and learn more about the program.
If you are interested in helping with any events, please contact the elementary school at 488-7701 or pto@eastonschools.org. The next meeting will be held Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the elementary school and childcare will be provided.
Upcoming senior trip
On Thursday, Sept. 17, a senior trip to Florenceville is planned. Join the gropu to the “French Fry Capital of the World” and view some of the St. John River Valley’s beauty. Bus departs from the Manor at 9:45 a.m. Participants are responsible for their own meal and should bring either a passport or picture ID/birth certificate.
Sesquicentennial items for sale
The committee is currently selling the following items to commemorate Easton’s year-long 150th celebration, including Easton history books for $10, 20-ounce glasses with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos for $8, glass coffee mugs with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos for $8, royal blue T-shirts with sesquicentennial logos for $8, royal blue hoodie sweatshirts with sesquicentennial logos for $25 and two-tone caps or standard caps with Easton Bears logos or Sesquicentennial logos for $10.

Special rec activities
A fall cooking camp will be offered by Chris Finnemore of the Maine Cooperative Extension Sept. 21, 22, 24 and 25 from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the Hall. The cost is $10. This program is open to children in grades 1 and up and they will accept up to 15 participants. Participants will cook with “fabulous fall foods,” including apples, corn, potatoes and pumpkins. The children will be serving the seniors dinner on Friday at 11:15 a.m. Please feel free to invite grandparents or other special folks in your child’s life.
Swimming lessons will be held at Gentile Hall and are open to children ages four and older. Students will be split by abilities. Classes will be held Mondays and Fridays at 1 p.m. from Sept. 21 through Oct. 9. Transportations departs from the hall at 12:30 p.m. and returns at 2:30 p.m. The cost is $30 for Easton residents.

Wednesday, Sept. 16 – Junior Activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall.
A trip to the MSAD 1 school farm until 4:15 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 17 – Senior/Adult trip to Florenceville; departs from the Manor at 9:45 a.m. Participants are responsible for their own meal.
Third and fourth grade soccer at Ashland at 3:30 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 18 – Hunter Brother’s Farm field trip from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The cost is $14. Please bring a bag lunch.
Senior Game Day starting at 11:15 a.m. in the Recreation Room at the Manor.
Monday, Sept. 21 – Cooking Camp at the Hall from 9:30 a.m.-noon. Pre-registration required; open to grades one and up. The cost is $10.
First swim lessons from 12:30-2:30 p.m.; transportation departs from and returns to the Hall. Pre-registration required.
Third and fourth soccer at Mars HIll at 3 p.m.; bus departs from the Hall at 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 22 – Cooking Camp from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the Hall.
Field trip to Stewart’s Farm from 12:15-2 p.m.
Grades 1-2 soccer at Mars Hill; parents must provide transportation.
Grades 5-6 soccer practice from 5:15-6 p.m. on the girls’ soccer field.
Wednesday, Sept. 23 – Field Trip to Bangor Children’s Museum; departing at 8 a.m. and returning by 5 p.m. The cost is $6. This is sure to be a great day at the children’s museum. Must wear teal rec. shirts. There is a souvenir shop on site. Please send a bag lunch. We need adults or teen chaperones today to break into small groups.
