It is time once again for high school basketball playoffs and a number of local teams are vying for the coveted gold ball.
The Houlton and Southern Aroostook girls and boys squads have each punched their ticket directly to Bangor and will avoid having to play a preliminary playoff game. Meanwhile, the Katahdin and East Grand/GHCA girls and Hodgdon boys are taking the more difficult route by having to win a prelim game in order to make the trip to the Cross Insurance Center.
Playoff games begin in Bangor for teams in the Class B, C and D north region starting Friday evening and continue all day Saturday and throughout next week. For a full breakdown of this year’s tournament action, check out today’s special section in Sports.
