MASARDIS – David M. Chasse, 71, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. He was born April 28, 1945, in Fort Fairfield, a son of Shirley (Deschesne) Chasse and the late Harold Chasse.
David worked at Buck’s Construction, Presque Isle, for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping in the North Woods, and enjoyed teaching his children, grandchildren or anyone who was interested in the arts of trapping.
He was an avid cribbage player and loved hosting or attending weekly cribbage tournaments. He would often win a bit of money, but we all knew he cheated.
His children and grandchildren cherish their memories and loved that David would call at least one grandchild every day, just to say hello or offer an understanding ear.
He is survived by: his mother of Fort Fairfield; four children, David K. Chasse and his fiancée, Julie Cook of Milo, Terry Chasse and his wife, Heidi of Mapleton, Jeffrey Chasse and his long-time companion, Sherry Sprague of Fort Fairfield, and Kelly Syphers and her husband, Buddy of Bangor; five siblings, Dana Chasse and his wife, Donna of Mars Hill, Jim Chasse and his wife, Brenda of Presque Isle, Cindy LaCroix, Joe Chasse and his wife, Beverly, and Tim Chasse and his wife, Jenny, all of Fort Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Matthew, Alissa, Trista, Emma, Ava and Sally; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Coleman; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, David was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Brooker) Chasse in 2007; and a brother, Bobby Chasse.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange Street, P.O. Box 39, Ashland, with Pastor Gail Bellamy officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family 1 p.m., until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
