CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Police Department responded to two accidents on Friday, April 21 — one on Bennett Drive and another at the intersection of the Washburn Road and York Street.

According to Laura Adams, administrative assistant for the Caribou Police Department, the Bennett Drive accident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. when Amber Bartlett, 25 of Caribou pulled her 2004 Jeep out of a McDonald’s parking lot and into the roadway, entering the path of Michael DeVito, 71, of Woodland, who was driving a 2003 Chevy pick-up truck.

Adams said the accident on the Washburn Road/York Street intersection occurred at 9:30 p.m. when Samantha Bouchard, 41, of Caribou struck a pole with a 2001 Ford truck.

The National Weather Service in Caribou recorded 1.1 inches of snow for the 21st, an inch higher than the 0.1 inch average.

The Caribou Police Department issued a warning via Facebook on April 21, urging drivers to be safe, adding that “the road conditions are very poor” and “there have been multiple accidents.”

On April 24, the department was unable to confirm or deny if there were any other accidents on the 21st, and the accident reports did not state whether or not those involved had changed from snow to summer tires.

Police say nobody was injured as a result of Friday’s accidents. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as a contributing factor.
