The Easton Recreation Department is proud to be part of Read Across Aroostook organized by the United Way of Aroostook. There will be 15 sites taking part around The County. On Tuesday, Aug. 1, the Easton Rec and Easton School Department will host the event at the Easton Elementary School Library. All children and their parent/guardian(s) are invited to join for a read-aloud story time starting at 3 p.m. Come listen to a story, take part in a story walk titled “ABC Pirate,” color a bookmark, and enjoy books and reading.
All participants will receive goody bags.
Happy Days in summer
The Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club met July 13 after a potluck lunch with 11 members present: Annette Copeland, Betty Brown, Marie Hewitt, Elizabeth Martin, Paulette Garrison, Pat Fitzherbert, Jackie Condon, Kitty Scott, Loomis Scott, Jean Ann Ames and Carrie Mason.
A social time playing board games followed the meeting. The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, in the recreation room at the Manor. Please join them and invite a friend.
Community Library closed
The Easton Community Library will be closed on Saturday, July 29, and will resume a regular schedule starting on Saturday, August 5th. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Music in the Park
On Saturday, July 29, the Little School on the Station Road in Easton will present Music in the Park by Wednesday Night Fiddlers. There will be a barbecue served for $3.50 including hot dogs, chips, dessert and water. 50/50 tickets will be sold; the drawing will take place at 6PM. The Historical Society and Little School will be open.
Camp seeks participants
Archery camp will be offered on July 31 and Aug. 2 and 3 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. There will be two groups divided by grades.
The cost is $30. Equipment will be provided. This is open to those who have completed third grade. Bring a water bottle and snack. Loose-fitting clothing not recommended. Open to Easton and out-of-town residents.
Easton Recreation Schedule
Wednesday, July 26 – Field trip to Paradise Mountain in New Brunswick. The bus departs at 9:30 a.m. and will return by 3:30 p.m. The cost is $7/children and $10/adults (American money, please). Children should have rec. tee-shirt, swimsuit, towel, water shoes and their own labeled sunscreen.
A picnic will be provided. Concessions will be available. Flotation devices and water toys are strongly encouraged. Open to grades 1 and up; children must be able to swim to attend this trip. Non-swimmers are welcome with an adult.
Thursday, July 27 – Day camp at the Hall from 9-12. Breakfast and lunch will be served. We’ll be celebrating Christmas; don’t forget items for children’s’ goody bags, please. Open to grades 1 and up; younger children welcome with an adult. This event is free.

Free swim trip to the Fort Fairfield Pool from 12:30-3:15. Must be able to swim to attend without an adult.
Friday, July 28 – Swim lessons from 9:30-11:15 at the Fort Fairfield Pool. Bus departs from/returns to the Hall.
Playgroup at the Hall from 11:15-12:30.
Sunday, July 30 – Softball games at 5:30 and 6:30.
Monday, July 31 – Day camp at the Hall from 9-12. Breakfast and lunch will be served. We will visit the Northern Maine Fair. Open to grades 1 and up; younger children welcome with an adult. Please wear rec. shirts. Event is free.
