Fort Kent teams split games against visiting Houlton Shires

FORT KENT, Maine — Four different players scored for the Warriors Thursday, as the boys team defeated the visiting Shires of Houlton 4-1 under the lights at Fort Kent Community High School.

Bennet Theriault and Caleb Delisle netted a goal apiece in the first half. Houlton’s Jaron Gentle scored off a Keegan Gentle setup to cut into the Fort Kent lead before the half ended.

With good ball control and use of open space, though, Fort Kent’s Camden Jandreau converted a pass from Eden Paradis into a third Warrior score in the second half. Then Sam Johnson connected off a Kayden Nadeau assist for the final goal.

The Warriors were 5-1 following the win and ranked atop the Class C North standings.

Houlton dropped to 3-2.

On the girls’ side, the Shires held off the Warrior offense for a 2-0 win.

Tyra Gentle and Kolleen Bouchard each scored a second-half goal to lift Houlton (7-0) to the victory.

Tessa Solomon made eight saves on 14 shots to earn the shutout. Lyndsay Ouellette made 12 saves on 16 shots for 4-3 Fort Kent.

The undefeated Shires sat at the top of the Class D North standings after the win and Fort Kent was ranked 4th.
