Icy roads lead to Friday afternoon crash

MARS HILL, Maine — Ice-covered roads from the area’s first snowfall were cited as the contributing cause of a single-vehicle crash in Mars Hill Friday afternoon.

According to Aroostook County Sheriff Darrell Crandall, Zachary Crouch, 18, of Mars Hill was traveling east on Boynton Street in a 2008 Ford F-150 when he lost control of his truck around 12:30 p.m. Crouch’s vehicle left the road and rolled over, coming to a rest on its side.

Police determined Crouch was wearing his seatbelt and he was not injured as a result of the crash. The truck received an unspecified amount of damage and was towed from the scene.

Deputy Sheriff Peter Johnson investigated the incident.
