On Friday, Dec. 15, the Easton schools will offer a Christmas dinner with all the fixings for Easton seniors residents.  Please RSVP to the elementary school office by Monday, Dec. 11, at 488-7700.  Lunch will be served at 12:45 and is free of charge.

Martial arts class

Brett Varnum will instruct To-Shin Do on Wednesdays, Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 and 13, from 3 to 4:15 p.m. at the Recreation Center.

To-Shin Do is based on ancient warrior disciplines with a modern approach to handling threats and confrontations likely in our own culture.  Dress in comfortable clothes to move easily.

The cost is only $12 for all three classes; eight participants are required for the Rec Department to offer the program. Contact Easton Rec to register.

PTO bazaar

The PTO is looking toward the Christmas Bazaar to be held on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 7 and 8.  This is one of the few fundraisers the PTO completes during the school year.

Each elementary student is given an opportunity to shop for their family, where all items cost $1.

The group is asking for donations of gift bags, bows, and items for the bazaar, as well as new and gently used items. Men’s items are always in demand.

Donations can be left at the elementary office during the school day.  Contact them through Facebook or email, pto@eastonschools.org.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming: check the school website and PTO Facebook page for dates of availability.  The book fair will be open to the public during the Easton Craft Fair on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Christmas crafts

Easton’s Christmas Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Easton Elementary School.  There will be more than 50 vendors this year.

The Easton PTO will hold their book fair during this event.

For more information, call Melissa Corbin at 227-4093.

Science Center plans

The Francis Malcolm Science Center will hold workshops for participants to make their own wreath, centerpiece or swag.  Workshop dates are Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1, at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 2, at 9 or 10:30 a.m.

Wreaths and large centerpieces $15; swags and small centerpieces are $8.

Reservations are required as space is limited.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m., the center will present “The Christmas Star” in the star theater, which offers a both festive and astronomical investigation of the holiday traditions in general and the mystery of the “star” of Bethlehem in particular.

For information on either program, call (207) 488-5451, e-mail tricia@francismalcolmsciencecenter.com, or visit the center on Facebook.

Community library

On Saturdays the Community Library will be held at the Easton High School Library from 9:30AM until noon and will feature a story time from 10:00AM to 10:30AM geared for toddlers/pre-K to gr. 3; children under 5 need to be accompanied by an adult.  The Story Time will include a picture book with an activity/color page to follow. The library will be open to the community for patrons to utilize library services; book loans, use of periodicals and reference materials, Internet and computer access. Patrons may bring their own devices to access the Internet and will be asked to follow existing library rules/guidelines.   This week’s library date will be Saturday, November 2nd.
