Police find missing Portage man

CARIBOU, Maine — A Portage man who was missing for more than two hours Monday was located safely in Caribou.

George Tardie, 76, who has dementia, went missing at approximately 2:30 and was found shortly before 5 p.m., according to Sheriff Darrell Crandall of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a Portage man who has dementia and was last seen on foot Monday on High Street in Caribou. Police began search for George Tardie, 76, just before 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to Sheriff Darrell Crandall.

He was in good health and deputies were with him, according to Crandall.

The sheriff appealed to the public Monday afternoon for help in locating Tardie, who was last seen on foot on High Street in Caribou.
