Although snow had yet to start falling Thursday morning, the impending storm has wiped out sporting events scheduled for Thursday.

The Houlton girls basketball game at Presque Isle has been moved to Friday (junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.). The Shires are undefeated on the season with a 6-0 record and are the top-ranked team in Class C North, according to the Maine Principals Association Heal Points standings. Presque Isle is 3-2 on the year and is currently seventh in Class B North.

The Katahdin girls at Easton game has been moved to Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. Katahdin is 2-4 on the season and is ranked seventh in Class D North, while Easton is 1-5 and ninth.

The Washburn at Ashland boys and girls doubleheader will now be played Monday, Jan. 15, with the boys’ contest tipping off first at 2 p.m.

The Presque Isle boys game at Orono, originally scheduled Dec. 23, but rescheduled to Thursday, Jan. 4, has been postponed. The game will now be played Monday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m.

Other cancellations include the Nordic freestyle meet scheduled at Madawaska Friday and the alpine meet at Bigrock in Mars Hill Saturday. Friday’s Nordic meet was cancelled due to the storm and predicted wind chill temps, while Saturday’s Alpine meet was postponed due to the predicted extremely low wind chill temps.
