PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A 60-year-old woman remains hospitalized in Bangor following a collision with an SUV on State Road in Presque Isle.

Patsy Carlson, 60, was pulling out of her mother’s driveway in her mother’s 2003 Buick LeSabre Saturday morning when she failed to yield the right of way to a 2015 GMC Yukon being driven by Haley Kelley, 36, according to Presque Isle Police Cpl. Kyle White.

Both drivers were headed in the direction of Presque Isle and the residence is located at the top of a hill, White said.

Kelley, who was driving with her three young children, crashed into the driver’s side of Carlson’s car, White said.

Carlson was trapped unconscious and had to be extricated from the car, White said. She was transported by a Presque Isle Fire Department ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

As of about noon Monday, Carlson had not regained consciousness, White said.

Neither Kelley nor her three children were hurt in the crash, the corporal said. Both Carlson and Kelley were wearing seatbelts and the children were properly secured in car seats, White added.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
