HODGDON, Maine — High school students at Hodgdon Middle-High School put their artistic talents on display recently as part of the school’s “Spirit Week” celebration.

As has been the case for the past few years, when the snow has been plentiful, students in grades 9-12 put their talents to the test by creating masterful snow sculptures in front of the school, located on 175 Hodgdon Mills Road.
Students spent several hours after school during the week of Feb. 26-March 2 to put the finishing touches on their sculptures. This year’s theme for snow creations was “Disney movies,” and students were encouraged to come up with their own take on popular Walt Disney films.
The sophomore class’ creation of “Simba,” a massive lion’s head from the movie “The Lion King,” was crowned the best snow sculpture.
Other sculptures were of “Crush,” the sea turtle from “Finding Nemo,” created by the senior class; “Mike Wazowski” from “Monster’s Inc.” by the junior class; and “Mickey’s hat” from the film “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by the freshman class.
