PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Officials from Emera Maine have confirmed that power has been restored to 3,872 customers in Presque Isle, Mapleton, Chapman, Castle Hill and Wade as of 9:54 Friday morning.

Emera Maine first received reports of outages from all five towns starting at 8:45 a.m., according to Emera Maine Communications Manager Kendra Overlock. Crews have since restored all power, but were unable to spot an apparent cause of the outages. A further investigation of the cause is still being conducted.

“Often our crews are able to clearly see if a line was chewed by an animal or damaged in any other way by nature, but today they didn’t see any issue that would prevent them from restoring power to customers while they continued their investigation,” Overlock said.

Overlock confirmed that crews restored power to Presque Isle customers at 9:12 a.m. while folks in the remaining towns saw their power restored by 9:55 a.m., with the total outage lasting for an hour and 10 minutes.
