CARIBOU, Maine — A tree fell onto power lines off the Access Highway at about 6 p.m. Thursday night, knocking out power for about 1,800 Emera customers in the Caribou area, according to Emera Maine Communication Specialist Judy Long.

Long said Emera technicians were able to bring power back to 870 customers shortly after the outage. Once crews arrived on site, repairs were completed and power was restored for the remaining customers within an hour, or before 8 p.m.

Members of the Caribou Police and Fire Departments also arrived to assist on the scene minutes after the outage occurred, according Laura Adams, administrative assistant for the Caribou Police Department.
