Undefeated Police team outmatches Sleepers in LL finals

CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Police made it back-to-back Caribou Little League championships by sweeping Sleepers in the best-of-three series played July 17 and 18.

Police, representing the National Division, finished with a perfect 16-0 record. The American Division’s Sleepers squad ended up at 12-5.

In the opening game of the series, Griffen McNeal, Brayden Brescia and Bryce St. Pierre combined on the pitching duties for the Police, with Brescia and Dylan Bouchard leading the offense with three hits each and St. Pierre and McNeal notching two each in the 8-4 victory.

Matt Pelletier tripled and Alex Belanger, Landon Plourde and Owen Corrigan added a hit apiece for Sleepers. Landen Plourde, Keegan Bell and Nic Plourde were the team’s hurlers.

The following evening in game two, St. Pierre pitched 4-1/3 strong innings before Landon Tracy finished up for the Police. They benefited from a solid offensive showing by their team as McNeal homered, doubled and singled, Brescia doubled and singled twice and St. Pierre and Bouchard each tallied three singles. Police totaled 16 hits in the 13-7 triumph.

Nic Plourde, Bell, Landon Plourde, Pelletier, Corrigan, Colin Gamble and Andrew Cummings led the Sleepers’ offense.
