CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou Police responded to “what appeared to be a head-on collision” late Tuesday morning, Aug. 21, said Police Chief Michael Gahagan via a press release.
The incident occurred on the Fort Road, just beyond the East Presque Isle Road intersection.
Caribou Police, who were assisted by Caribou Fire and Ambulance as well as Maine State Police, say Danielle Nichols, 29, of Caribou was traveling west on the Fort Road in a 2003 Chevy Impala when she collided with a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Jeannette St. Pierre, 79, of Fort Fairfield. Albert St. Pierre, 81, also from Fort Fairfield, was in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
The three were taken to Cary Medical Center with “serious injuries,” and both Albert St. Pierre and Nichols were “life flighted to Eastern Maine Medical Center,” while Jeannette St. Pierre is being treated at Cary, Gahagan said.
Officer Kyle White of the Presque Isle Police Department reconstructed the accident shortly after it occurred, and Caribou officer Kegan McPherson is investigating the accident.
