PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Presque Isle police say a woman failed to stop at a red light Wednesday afternoon and struck an Ashland District School bus partially loaded with students.

Michael Truman was driving the 2009 school bus on Main Street in Presque Isle when Constance Parker, operating a 1995 Buick, failed to stop at the intersection of Allen and Main streets and drove into the driver’s side of the  bus, police reported.

Numerous other motorists and passersby called police to report the accident. Members of the Presque Isle and Caribou Fire and Ambulance service transported Truman and two students to Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital to be examined for injuries that police said were not life threatening.

Parker was not injured.

Impact Auto removed the school bus from the roadway while Jalbert’s Auto towed Parker’s vehicle, which was destroyed as a result of the crash.
