HOULTON, Maine — A 53-year-old Hodgdon man was charged with aggravated assault and burglary following a July 13 incident on High Street.

Michael S. Malone was arrested Tuesday, July 16, ending a three-day search by Houlton Police and many other law enforcement agencies in northern Maine.

Malone reportedly entered a home on High Street shortly before 11:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, and assaulted the resident, according to Houlton Police Chief Tim DeLuca. The male victim defended himself in response to the violent attack, in which both individuals were injured.

“Due to the nature of the crime and injuries, HPD officers began the search for the suspect,” the chief said.

Malone surrendered to Houlton police on Tuesday, July 16, and was subsequently taken to Aroostook County Jail, where he remained on Friday afternoon.
