Police arrest Caribou man wanted for assault, other crimes

CARIBOU, Maine — Police officers have apprehended a man wanted for crimes in Caribou.

According to a 6 a.m. social media release by the Caribou Police Department, officers reported at 3:30 a.m. on July 23 that they had apprehended Jerald “Rick” Scheurwarter, 32, of Caribou.

Police indicated Scheurwater was “wanted for aggravated assault, terrorizing, and obstructing the report of a crime.”

Court records indicate that Scheurwater was convicted of domestic violence assault in late 2018 and also for assault in 2016.

Police had urged anyone who knew of Scheurwater’s whereabouts to contact them. In their July 23 post, the department thanked the public for their assistance.
