CARIBOU, Maine — The city of Caribou has set seven dates this summer for the Thursdays on Sweden series of events, which feature live music, food, vendors, an outdoor bar and unique themes and activities for each night.
While the music acts and themes have not yet been announced, the seven events will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 4, June 18, July 2, July 16, July 30, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27, on Sweden Street in Caribou.
Caribou Marketing and Events Coordinator Christina Kane-Gibson said last year’s event drew in larger crowds than ever, with each night bringing in around 1,000 guests.
Since last August, bands have approached city officials asking to participate in this year’s series of events.
In addition to Thursdays on Sweden, the city will celebrate its fifth consecutive year of holding the Caribou Marathon, a Boston Marathon qualifying event that also brought more than 1,000 guests last year.
The city also plans to hold a special event honoring Maine’s 200th anniversary, but no dates and times are set yet. Kane-Gibson said the theme for the upcoming bicentennial celebration will be “The Story of Caribou.”
