Amity crash leads to OUI charge

AMITY, Maine — A Limestone man suffered non-life threatening injuries early Monday morning when he drove off U.S. Route 1 in Amity and crashed into a ditch.

 

Timothy Burns, 53, was southbound on U.S. Route 1 in a 2010 Ford Focus around 12:35 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over and land on its roof, Sgt. Josh Haines of the Maine State Police Troop F said.

Burns was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital by ambulance for injuries he sufferedin the crash. The investigation determined that Burns was operating while under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the crash. He was also operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

Burns was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended.
