|DYER BROOK, Maine — Thanks to the swift action of two Daigle Oil Company service technicians, a small grass fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread.

Technicians Ben Delano and Dana LaPointe were on a routine customer service job in Dyer Brook on Wednesday, April 29, when they spotted a small fire by the side of the road, according to Houlton division manager Levi Prosser.

The two men hopped out of their vehicle and asked the tenant of a nearby home if they had been burning brush.

After the tenant responded “no,” the two technicians grabbed their fire extinguishers and quickly extinguished the flames before the fire had a chance to reach the house, about 50 feet away, or continue burning through the 40-acre field.

Prosser said the Maine Forest Service was contacted immediately after the fire was contained. No damage was done to the building.

Prosser commended the two men for their prompt actions.

“They did a great job keeping the property, the building and the tenant safe,” he said. “We are always proud to see our employees doing good in the community.”
