PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A fire at a multi-family home at 65 State St. in Presque Isle Saturday has left two people displaced, according to the Northern New England Region of the American Red Cross.

At around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Presque Isle Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the address, which houses multiple families. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a single room on the upstairs floor and all occupants of the building were safely evacuated.

The Red Cross said it was working with two people who were displaced by the fire, with potentially more as they reach out to others who may have been affected.

The displaced are being provided with food and a place to sleep, and protocols are in place regarding social distancing to prevent potential spread of COVID-19.
