FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Fire destroyed the main building at the Maine Department of Transportation’s Fort Fairfield facility early Sunday morning.

Fort Fairfield Fire and Rescue Department responded to the fire call at the DOT garage at 86 High St. at 3:20 a.m.

The fire also destroyed two trucks, a backhoe and several other smaller pieces of equipment that were inside the garage.

The loss of the building, vehicles, and equipment should not have a significant impact on the level of service MaineDOT provides, according to a DOT spokesperson.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.
