Snowmobile Trail Report, January 11, 2021

Happy New Year, everyone. Sorry that I have not gotten a report out yet, but I have been busy doing a snow dance.

There is not much to report yet here in Aroostook County.  We received about an average of 5-7 inches on Jan. 2.  Some clubs were able to get out and pan or roll what was there but certainly not enough to say that there is any good riding to be had.

The ground is starting to freeze up, but where there are swamps this is going to take a little bit longer to freeze.

The southern section of The County received the heaviest and most damaging of snow a few weeks back and some clubs are still out there cutting back the trees and branches that are blocking the trails.  So, if you really want to come up and do something, contact the clubs and see if they still could use a hand. Most clubs have Facebook.

With the heavy snow and damage to trees, many clubs hired out excavators to open their trails up.  This is the year to join a club to help offset some of these major expenses.

This report is certainly going to be a short one, and all I can do is ask everyone to continue doing the snow dance and ask for some cold weather.
