PRESQUE ISLE, Maine Members of Presque Isle High School’s varsity hockey team are in isolation after exposure to COVID-19 at a game against the Old Town-Orono hockey team in the Orono area on Saturday.

The Presque Isle team was notified that a member of the Old Town-Orono hockey team tested positive for COVID-19 after the game, SAD 1 Superintendent Ben Greenlaw said in a letter to the district. As a result, 17 team members and two staff members associated with the Presque Isle team are in isolation until at least Feb. 17, which corresponds with the district’s weeklong February break.

All SAD 1 schools are remaining open, since no other students or staff members were close contacts of the hockey team, Greenlaw said.

Greenlaw is expected to give a “COVID-19 and Our Schools” update as part of his monthly report during the next SAD 1 school board meeting Wednesday. That meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Presque Isle High School cafeteria.
