PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Just after lunch on Tuesday, Chad Botting, 36, allegedly threatened the Presque Isle Career Center on Spruce Street, forcing the center into lockdown, Presque Isle police said.

“He called the career center and made threats involving a firearm,” Sgt. Lucas Hafford said on Friday morning.

Police began watching Botting’s Presque Isle residence after the threat was reported, and when Botting left on foot later that afternoon, several officers responded.

At 3:18 p.m., Botting was apprehended on the State Street Bridge and he was charged with one felony count of terrorizing, Hafford said.

Botting was released on bail and he has a hearing slated in May.
