PATTEN, Maine — Residents gathered around Main Street in Patten to watch vehicles representing the Patten area’s prominent businesses and organizations go by on Saturday, Aug. 14, as part of the numerous events that occurred during Patten Pioneer Days.

Festivities began on Friday with a candy drop held at the air strip and airplane hangar along North Road, before the parade commenced on Saturday morning, along with a yard sale in front of Stetson Memorial Church.

The parade finished before a rainstorm entered the Patten area later that day.

Other events that occurred during Pioneer Weekend included a bean-hole dinner at the Patten Lumbermen’s Museum, a chicken barbecue at the Mt. Chase Fire Department and a cornhole tournament held at Shin Pond Village.
