CHAPMAN, Maine — A head-on collision in Chapman sent one person to the hospital Tuesday, according to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

At 2:05 p.m. 75-year-old Brenda Boykin was driving south on the West Chapman Road in her 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis when she crossed the center of the road and struck a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Tiernan Walsh, 20, who was headed north.

The initial investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Presque Isle Police Department found that Boykin likely suffered a medical episode which caused her to lose control of her vehicle.

Boykin was transported to Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle and treated for serious injuries. Walsh was treated for minor injuries at the crash scene.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, police said.
