Caribou girls upset Winslow to advance in the playoffs

CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou girls varsity soccer team won its first round playoff game in an upset 2-0 shutout versus Winslow on the road in Waterville Saturday.

The No. 13 Vikings (4-11-1 overall) advance to the quarterfinals where the team will travel to No. 12 Oceanside (3-12) Wednesday in Rockland. No. 4 Winslow ends its season with a 6-6-2 record.

In Saturday’s game, Caribou’s Gabbie Sutherland opened up the scoring off an assist from Araya Caverhill. Caverhill then added an insurance goal later in the game. 

The No. 15 Caribou boys (0-13) were eliminated from the playoffs on Friday with a 10-0 loss to No. 2 Winslow (15-0).
