LIMESTONE, Maine — The holiday spirit was in full swing Sunday evening, as Limestone held its annual Christmas Light Parade.
Families lined their cars up and down Main Street, with many standing outside eager to see Santa Claus and the variety of parade floats.
Hosted by the Limestone Chamber of Commerce, this year’s parade featured 15 floats celebrating the theme “Songs of Christmas.” From “Let it Snow” to “Feliz Navidad,” the music helped to get the crowd even more into the holiday spirit.

“We wanted to have more music along the parade route and get people more excited,” Chamber director Michelle Albert said.
This year’s parade featured a float contest for Best Theme, Most Creative and Most Curb Appeal. Best Theme went to the snowmobile club, Limestone Snow Hawks, for decorating their trail groomer and a truck from Williams Construction, which was pulling their float, with an array of colorful Christmas lights.
Limestone resident Tim Obar and his family won Most Creative for their red Radio Flyer float, complete with a crane for lifting Santa’s presents onto his sleigh. Butler Farms won Best Curb Appeal for decorating their tractors with Christmas lights and red gift bows.
After the parade, local children visited with Santa Claus and received Christmas cookies courtesy of Limestone Parks and Recreation.
Albert said that the parade has become a tradition that the town looks forward to every holiday season.
“Along with the Fourth of July parade, this is another way to bring people together and celebrate,” Albert said.
