BANGOR, Maine — The long road trip to start the regular season continued Dec. 17 for the Houlton-Hodgdon-Southern Aroostook-Katahdin hockey team as the Blackhawks journeyed to Sawyer Ice Arena to take on Hampden Academy.

The Broncos skated to a 9-1 victory thanks to a pair of goals from Adrian Webb and Keith Brooks, and single goals from Johnny Vickery, Cameron Henderson,  Maxwell Flemming, Nicholas Bates and Zach Wilson.

Josh McGillicuddy scored the lone goal for the Blackhawks with four seconds remaining in the game after a shot by Riley Fitzpatrick deflected off the Bronco’s goalie.

“Hampden Academy has a very strong team,” Blackhawks coach Karl Enroth said. “They move their feet all the time and pass with precision. We will have to work hard to make improvements in our team play and hopefully when we play again later in the season we can have a better game.”
