STACYVILLE, Maine — The Katahdin Middle-High School has closed for the day after threats were found in one of the girls’ bathrooms at the school.

Parents were notified of the closure by an automated message and email sent out just before 10 a.m.

“A KMHS student has reported to me that there are some threatening words written in the girls bathroom,” according to the email. “Out of an abundance of caution, KMHS students are being dismissed and bused home for the day so this can be investigated. The safety of all of our students and staff will always be our first priority.”

The Katahdin Elementary School was not affected, and students in that school remain in session.

Parents will be notified with a follow-up message once the district has more information.
