Easton holds annual town meeting

EASTON, Maine — The annual Easton town meeting took place on April 4 inside the Easton Elementary School gymnasium. Residents voted on the annual town warrant, received budget information and found out the winners of the local election. 

Kevin Marquis was elected as this year’s meeting moderator. A total of 136 residents voted in this year’s election. Doug Blackstone was elected with 132 votes for the open select board position for a three-year term. Mary Wilcox received two votes for the position and Marcel Chalau received one.

 For the two open school board positions for three-year terms, Meaghan Ellis and Michele MacPherson were elected with 117 and 94 votes, respectively. Thomas Osgood received 50 votes and Rick Henderson and Denise Clark each received one. Penney Siddiqui was elected to the two-year school board seat with 133 votes. Rick Henderson received one vote.

All articles in the annual town warrant passed unanimously. Easton’s expense budget for 2022 is $1,114,908, an increase of $81,212 from 2021, which was $1,033,696. All departments increased their expenses from the following year.
